MALE BREASTS REDUCTION
Gynecomastia or enlargement of male breasts is not a rare phenomenon. Every third man to 40 years and every second over 50 years has more or less significant problem. It occurs as a result of enlargement of the gland and accumulation of adipose tissue.
PREOPERATIVE PREPARATION
The surgeon must be familiar with all health problems, allergic reactions, previous operations, taking medication, sports activities, etc. General health check and basic laboratory analysis are mandatory for all patients. It would be preferable to stop smoking, and taking drugs and preparations that affect blood coagulation.
During preoperative preparation, a photo documentation should be completed, it is completed with photos during and after the surgery, as well as during transplantation.
SURGERY
- Anesthesia: The operative procedure for reducing genomics is performed in general endotracheal anesthesia. In the case of smaller areas or unilateral gynecomastia, surgery can also be done in local anesthesia.
- Duration: Depending on the size and technique for reduction, the duration is from 90 to 150 minutes.
POSTOPERATIVE FLOW
Feelings of pain, pressure, swelling occur in the first days. The compressive corset is worn for 4 to 6 weeks from surgery. During the next two to three weeks, a patient can return to normal activities, while six weeks of surgery can return to training.
COMPLICATIONS
Breast reduction in men is associated with general surgical risks such as bleeding and infection. All risks are presented to patients, as well as mandatory adherence to given instructions.
